This program is tailored for those passionate about mastering the operation of vehicles over 4,500 kg, including truck and trailer combinations and recycling trucks, while excluding air brake-equipped vehicles. Course Breakdown

Class 3 Training

10 Hours
  • The course is a one-on-one, in-vehicle instructions, focusing on essential skills such as pre-trip inspections, air brake operation, backing maneuvers, and navigating difficult routes. Students will receive expert guidance on the proper use of mirrors and techniques for turning narrow corners, along with practical experience in hill parking. This hands-on approach ensures mastery of critical driving competencies necessary for successful and safe trucking.

Enrollment Requirements

  • The applicant must be 18 years old.
  • The applicant must hold a non-graduated valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Prior to testing:
  • Must hold an Alberta Air Brake Endorsement Certificate (Q Endorsement) Prior to Road Testing. ( Air Brake course is available at an additional cost).
  • Students must complete the written class 3 knowledge test which is set by Alberta Registries at any Alberta Registries or any private Registry Office.
  • The fee includes the use of the school truck for a Road test.
  • The fee does not include any registry fee ( such as road test permit and knowledge test fee).
  • Class 3 Manual Transmission students have the option to test on an Automatic without restrictions on their license
