Course Breakdown
Class 3 Training
- The course is a one-on-one, in-vehicle instructions, focusing on essential skills such as pre-trip inspections, air brake operation, backing maneuvers, and navigating difficult routes. Students will receive expert guidance on the proper use of mirrors and techniques for turning narrow corners, along with practical experience in hill parking. This hands-on approach ensures mastery of critical driving competencies necessary for successful and safe trucking.

Enrollment Requirements
- The applicant must be 18 years old.
- The applicant must hold a non-graduated valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Prior to testing:
- Must hold an Alberta Air Brake Endorsement Certificate (Q Endorsement) Prior to Road Testing. ( Air Brake course is available at an additional cost).
- Students must complete the written class 3 knowledge test which is set by Alberta Registries at any Alberta Registries or any private Registry Office.
- The fee includes the use of the school truck for a Road test.
- The fee does not include any registry fee ( such as road test permit and knowledge test fee).
- Class 3 Manual Transmission students have the option to test on an Automatic without restrictions on their license

Competence Building Program
The Competence Building Program offers personalized driving instructions, ranging from 17 to 25 hours, tailored to individual driver needs identified through an previously completed Class 1 on-road assessment. Upon successful completion and demonstration of improved competencies, the program removes the Alberta restriction from the driver's Class 1 license, enabling interprovincial operation.
Class 1 Farm Restricted Training
This course is designed to help students get the practice and knowledge they need to pass their Road test. Once a driver passes the necessary assessments including the Class 1 knowledge and road tests, vision screening, and submits a medical evaluation, they will receive a farm-restricted Class 1 driver's license marked with condition code “P”. This designation means the driver must adhere to specific farmer restrictions, and they are exempt from pre-licensing training requirements.
Class 1 Experience and Equivalency
The program offers 40 hours of training that combines classroom learning, hands-on yard exercises, and practical in-cab instruction, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. With a focus on more than just basic driving skills, participants gain valuable techniques and insights from experienced instructors chosen for their expertise, enhancing their overall competency and confidence on the road.
